Separate page for the Local Government Area

[edit]

As per discussion at Talk:List of Sydney suburbs, I have created a separate page for the City of Campbelltown, the Local Government Area. -- Ianblair23 06:00, 30 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Naming Issue

[edit]

It seems we have problem. The City of Campbelltown is also an LGA in Adelaide. And the alternative name -- "Campbelltown City Council" -- is employed by both. A look around the websites of both tells me that "City of Campbell" hasn't been retired by either. The Adelaide LGA is the elder, but the NSW one is the more populous. What to do? --Cyberjunkie | Talk 06:51, 6 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

No problems we'll simply add ", New South Wales" and/or ", South Australia". I encounted the same problem with the "City of Canterbury" and the "City of Liverpool". City of Canterbury points to the Local Government District in Kent, England with City of Canterbury, New South Wales mentioned before the article. City of Liverpool is a disambiguation page with City of Liverpool, New South Wales listed under Australia.
I'm personally not fussed whether "City of Campbelltown" points to either the NSW LGA, SA LGA or a disambiguation page as long as its regularly patrolled for what links there. -- Ianblair23 07:05, 6 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. I think it should point to a disambiguation page. I'll probably designate the SA LGA "City of Campbelltown (South Australia)" instead of "City of Campbelltown, South Australia". --Cyberjunkie | Talk 08:46, 6 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Can people who know or care about this LGA please have a look at this message and see if they can please help solve any redlinks in the "suburbs in this LGA" section of this page? -- All the best, Nickj (t) 08:18, 28 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I would suggest removing a few of these suburbs, and if no-one has an objection I'll come back in a few days and do so. I suggest removing Campbelltown North and East Campbelltown, as they are just extensions of the suburb of Campbelltown, removing Glenquarie and Macarthur Square as they only refer to shopping centres and don't actually exist as suburbs in the same way as any other, and remove Macquarie Heights and Leumeah Heights, as those articles can be encompassed within Macquarie Fields and Leumeah. Manaluka is inexplicable, as that is a former name for Raby. As for Glenlee, Sherwood Hills and Maryfields, I have never heard of any of these suburbs. Braue 15:23, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! (I would have replied sooner but was on holidays). Many of those names you have never heard of I think came from the department of local government, and they seemed to take a very "inclusionist" point of view as to what constitutes a suburb (i.e. I suspect if anyone whinged, or they even thought anyone might whinge, they added it, just to be safe). The result is that they are a number of places listed as suburbs which aren't, and removing those is a good idea. (Or to put it another way, the list of Sydney suburbs should be almost totally complete, so any red links are either errors that somehow slipped through the net, or aren't suburbs). -- All the best, Nickj (t) 05:35, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I checked the above link, which is a historical list of Mayors to 2010. I therefore researched and found the current list of mayors and replaced the link.
